There are a lot of questions asked about Lakewood Lodge.  To help make it easier, please use this frequently asked questions page to help answer any questions you may have.  If all else fails, you can always contact us directly at vacation@lakewoodlodge.com  or phone us at 1-800-495-8437.

Bring your own bath and kitchen towels, soaps, clothes, food and personal items and leave the rest to Lakewood Lodge for a memorable vacation experience.  You may want to bring your own additional outside chairs for seating on the beach or by the fire.

All our cabins have the amenities of home. There are fully equipped kitchens including a dishwasher in most cabins, refrigerator, stove and oven plus ample counter space with a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans and plenty of dishes and utensils. Look at each cabin page for information on exactly what each cabin includes.  Lakewood Lodge supplies dish soap, dishwasher soap, 1 roll of paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters and trash bags.

All bed linens for the rated occupancy are provided offering you a relaxing night’s sleep.  If you have additional guests please reserve linens for the futons when making you reservation.

There is plenty of fun for kids of all ages.  We have a large playground, sand volleyball, basketball, tetherball, a nice beach with water toys and all the outdoor games you can borrow.   There is also a large variety of board games in the lodge. We do have scheduled activities during the summer months that you can join in on like minnow races, bingo etc.

Without prior approval Lakewood Lodge does not allow any jet skis, ATV’s, or personal motorized recreation vehicle except boats .  You can bring your  jet ski but it must be kept on land and not on Lakewood Lodge’s docks at any time.  ATV’s cannot be used on resort grounds and only brought with prior approval.  Please give us a call for our policies.  We have this policy so every guest can enjoy the peace and quiet in the MN Northwood’s.

We do not sell fishing licenses.  You can purchase your fishing license at any local bait store or gas station.  You can also purchase you license online at  http://licenses.dnr.state.mn.us/

Yes, we sell bait and gas and limited tackle at the lodge.  We do have gas available on shore and at the lake for your convenience.

Every cabin has its own campfire ring. We supply 1 load of fire wood free of charge. Additional wood can be purchased at the lodge and we will happily deliver it to your cabin. We ask that you do not bring any firewood to Lakewood Lodge to protect the forest from invasive species.

Yes, we ask that out of the respect for others on vacation that each guest refrain from loud boisterous and profane language.  Quiet time starts at 10PM but you are more than welcome to enjoy the night as long as you keep it down for the other guests.

Sorry we do not allow fireworks as we are located in the Chippewa National Forest.

Yes, we have docks with power and every cabin gets 1 dock space free of charge.  Additional dock spaces can be reserved when you make your cabin reservation for an additional charge.

Every cabin comes with a gas grill.  We provide the propane but ask that the propane only be used for Lakewood Lodge’s grills, not any personal grill of fish fryer you bring along.

Yes, we charge $35 per night or $200 per week per additional person over the age of 2 years. All cabins are furnished with linens to accommodate the rated occupancy.  Please request additional linens when making your reservation.

Yes, we have a minimum stays.  Please call us for further information.

Rates are subject 6.875% state sales tax. We do not have a lodging tax.

Spring/Summer/Fall Deposits: Deposits are $150 per bedroom.

Winter Deposits: All deposits for winter reservations are 25% of the reservation and are non-refundable and non-transferable from the point of confirmation. Deposits for winter reservations are due at time the reservation is made.

Please understand that your deposits are non-refundable however your deposit can be transferred to another week in the same calendar year if the original reserved cabin and dates are rebooked.  Deposit transfers are subject to cabin availability of equal or greater value. You are responsible for the entire reservation for cabin(s) and boat(s). No credit will be given for late arrivals or early departures.

We strongly recommend you consider “trip insurance” for any unforeseen reason you may need to cancel your reservation. It may reimburse you for your non-refundable payments and/or deposits.  Lakewood Lodge is not affiliated nor endorses any “trip” insurance providers.  Because we take extreme pride in the cleanliness of our resort there are no early arrivals or late departures allowed.  Your Vacations Begins at 3pm on your scheduled day of arrival and Ends By 8:30am on your scheduled day of departure during the summer season.  Spring, Fall and Winter reservations we may be able to accommodate and earlier arrival with prior approval.   Please notify us if you will be arriving after lodge hours so arrangements can be made.

No Pets Allowed!

Hunting Dogs are allowed during Minnesota Waterfowl/Grouse Hunting Seasons only. Dogs are NOT allowed in the cabins at any time.  ALL dogs must have prior approval during hunting season.  We require a $200 refundable pet deposit (deposit is refunded following inspection of resort grounds after checkout). You are financially responsible for any damages caused by your pet

Upon check-in when you register the balance of your lodging must be paid.  You may run a tab for incidentals if you wish and the tab must be settled the day prior to your departure. You are required to agree to follow these rules & regulations during you visit You can read through these standards below:

Lakewood Lodge is privately owned and operated.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time.

Lakewood Lodge cannot be held responsible for accidents or injuries to guests and can not be held responsible for the loss of valuables of any kind.  You are financially responsible for the entire length of your reservation.  No refunds will be given for early departures or late arrivals.              

     Renter and all members of their party agree, understand and accept that the renter:

1)  assumes full financial responsibility for any and all damage and loss of income caused to the

rented cabin and/or any property of Lakewood Lodge while in the renters control.

2)  agrees to abide by all rules and regulations as posted in each cabin and in the lodge.

3)  agrees to leaving all rented property in the manner in which it was received minus a chemical clean.

This includes any and all inventory for each cabin.   Any missing or damaged property will be charged

to the renter as well as and and all additional expenses incurred for cleaning and or damage.

4) understands that Lakewood Lodge is a NO SMOKING resort and smoking is not allowed in any of

the buildings.  You may smoke outside or in the screen porch with the windows and doors closed.

Cigarettes  must be left in the ashtrays provided and not on grounds of the resort.  The renter will be

charged for additional cleaning time if debris is not left in ashtrays provided.

5) understands all guests and visitors must check in at the lodge.  All day guests are allowed

during lodge hours only.  Additional guest charges above the confirmed occupancy will be billed to the

renter.

6) at the discretion of Lakewood Lodge employees and/or owners renter or anyone in their party

can be asked to vacate the premises without a refund if any of the rules are broken.

7) agrees to abide by the check in time of AFTER 3 PM and check out before 8:30 AM. 

All early arrivals and late departures are subject to an additional daily rental fee.  This ensures that

the resort, cabins and grounds and property are properly maintained and cleaned and ready for each

and every guest.

8)  All Non Payment and/or default status of account balances are subject to any and all additional fees

incurred above the balance due and will be collected in Itasca County, MN.

Any and all additional fees or charges  will be billed to the renter and the credit card provided will be charged.   This signed contract will signify as your signature to any credit card charges.

Each cabin has parking spots for two vehicles/trailers next to it. We do have a parking lot behind the cabins for additional vehicles and trailers if needed.

Our cabins do not meet all ADA regulations therefore the answer is no. However, we have many guests in wheelchairs that do just fine in our cabins.

Each cabin does have a television with cable TV.

Yes, we do provide routers throughout the resort for your connection needs.

Yes, depending upon your provider as some are better than others in our area.

Yes, we do have coin operated washers and dryers for your use.

Yes, we have a nice sand beach and swimming area with no drop-offs.

Yes, we offer several styles of boats for rent to meet your needs. Please see our watercraft page for details.

Yes, if all of Lakewood Lodge’s boats are already rented we recommend Grand Rapids Marine at 218-326-0351 (www.grandrapidsmarine.com) or Wheeler Marine at 218-682-2339 (www.wheelermarine.com). Both companies will deliver and pick-up your rented boat to our resort.

Sand Lake is a fabulous fishing lake. The quality and size of the fish is some of the best in the state. Walleye, Crappie, Perch, Panfish and Bass are all abundant. Please see our Fishing Sand Lake page for more information.

Yes, but never inside the cabins. Most our cabins have screened in porches where smoking is allowed. We do require doors and windows be closed while smoking on the screened porch.  We provide ash cans outside and on the resort grounds for you to properly extinguish and dispose your cigarette.
